Wanderlust Wednesday-Summer Essentials

Well, I got to thinking about places I dream of traveling and I thought, well it’s Summer, it’s summer really the ultimate Wanderlust? Summer time is when you meet up with friends for long warm evenings, road trips, concerts, vacations? It’s a perpetual Wanderlust, well for three months that is 🙂

I wanted to rather than pick a location that I dream of going and just choose my summer essentials for a typical summer and some of the things I love right now.

Summer Essentials

NUMBER 1. The best part of summer is of course the sunshine, late nights and just being with friends. I am a photograph fanatic and have to take pictures of EVERYTHING. Actual film and Polaroids are my favorite they have a surprise element that I love and they also have a rugged vintage feel that is very appealing to me. This Fuji Instax instant camera is so much fun, I actually have the larger one, but the smaller ones are super great for summer especially if your going to be running around, it’s so much easier plus you can buy film in different colors and patterns. The film is pricey but totally worth it.

NUMBER 2. The summer dress is quite essential, at least for me it is. I have and am completely in love with a flirty flowy & floral (the three F’s apparently lol 🙂  ) summer dress. If I am spending time outside in the hot Southern California weather I like to be comfortable and this style of dress is a cross between romantic and vintage and very light weight. This dress is by far my favorite from http://www.shopplanetblue.com the blue moon u back babydoll dress. I LOVE the back, it’s open and totally sexy, but again lets the skin breathe during a hot summer day. This dress is great with sandals but also super perfect with a pair of casual ankle booties.

NUMBER 3. Fresh products are my favorite. Their body scrub is to die for and their lip balms like this are even better. They are incredibly hydrating and add the perfect tint to your lips. I have Sugar “berry” which is this perfect berry lip color. It’s really the only lip color I use it’s perfect. For summer I tend to be even more of a natural make up routine than normal and this petal balm is perfect. Keeps my lips looking healthy and kissable and there is the faintest tint that I love.

NUMBER 4.  My Ray-ban boyfriend frames are my best friend. I got these as a gift from my parents at Christmas and I am in love. I am 5’10 and a bit bigger which means my head is bigger too lol and I love Ray-ban’s originals but they were always way to small for me. These are the best. They are slightly larger but still have the squared top but a more rounded bottom. I love how they look. They look great with everything. My only issue is that honestly they don’t shield the sun that well, my $6 H&M aviatiors did a bit of a better job. BUT they do the trick well enough for me. 🙂

NUMBER 5.  Julep has quickly become my absolute favorite nail colors. I love their blends and colors and well everything about it. They are also from my hometown of Seattle so I do have a special place in my heart :). Their colors are super creamy and I honestly only really need maybe one coat because the color is fairly thick and just goes looking like perfection. I am really into yellow nails for some reason and this “Abbie” color is GORGEOUS! it’s not insanely bright but super pretty and perfect for summer. If you want to try julep go to http://www.julep.com, you can sign up for a Maven box which is an introductory box which is $19.99 after that you will get sent a new monthly Maven box for $19.99. Trust me. It’s highly worth the $20 bucks! you’ll be hooked.

NUMBER 6. If you noticed, or maybe you couldn’t really tell, but I have super duper fair skin. my arms are a little bit tan but mostly I just fry in the sun. I wish I was able to tan but it takes a lot. So in comes the sunscreen. Honestly I may get teased about my super pale skin but I am kind of ok with it. It has kept my skin healthy and kept me looking a little younger and youthful. In my opinion LOL 🙂 Most of lotions have some sort of spf in it but if it doesn’t I slather on this Kate Somerville “body glow” sunscreen. It tints my skin a bit with a warm glow but is still keeping it safe from the sun and allows me to enjoy my time outside. It is pricey but so worth it.

NUMBER 7. The perfect summer bag is definitely something I can sling across my body and keep my hands free. Keep the bulky bags at home for fall and bring out the light adorable purses. Urban outfitters has some super adorable tribal print cross body bags, but I love this one for a neutral everyday purse. It goes with literally everything and is decent sized to carry some essentials. I think if I were going to a festival or something I would add a crossbody only slightly bigger just so I could add my camera but if you didn’t have a bulky wallet you could for sure get a smaller camera in here.

NUMBER 8.  A good and adorable pair of sandals. I think with a sandal spending some money is alright because you can wear them through summer and maybe even into future summers to come. I love this pair of sandals from target. They look much more expensive than they are which is great but also work with shorts, dresses, pants, anything. I love the metal detail on them and they are really comfortable.

What are your summer essentials? If you want links to any of these products let me know. I was having a bit of a fight with the link feature on here and apparently it won because they clearly didn’t work 🙂

HAPPY SUMMER!!!
